Happy Thanksgiving from Fakhoury Medical And Chiropractic Center!
Thanksgiving is upon us and it is a holiday centered around gratitude, loved ones, and lots of food! This Thanksgiving, the Fakhoury Chiropractic team would like for our patients to be happy and healthy throughout the holiday.
Here are some loving tips for a healthy Thanksgiving:
Drink lots of water. Staying hydrated is so important for a healthy body, but water is also an appetite suppressant. Being hydrated helps your body know when you’re actually hungry or just eating to be eating. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day can keep you from sneaking bites of pie as you prepare your meal!
Eat before the feast. Fasting before your big Thanksgiving meal can lead to over eating. Eat a healthy breakfast when you wake up to help curb your appetite and snack on vegetables throughout the day instead of chips and dip. A colorful vegetable platter with healthy dips is a delicious way to snack responsibly.
Eat slowly. It takes 20 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain that you’re full, so pace yourself throughout your meal. Take pauses between bites and savor your delicious feast.
Enjoy an afternoon walk. You might feel like lounging on the couch after all that turkey, but going for a walk can get your digestive system up and running. Invite your loved ones to walk around the neighborhood. This will help burn off some of the calories you’ve just taken in and can help with your stomach aches you may feel if you’ve eaten too much.
Manage stress. The holidays are a time of enjoyment, but many people feel stress particularly when entertaining guests. Try to plan ahead and take a few deep breaths throughout the day. Remember that Thanksgiving is all about giving thanks. Put things in perspective and remember everything that you’re thankful for.
